Misty Copeland
Misty Copeland was the first African American performer dancer to be appointed principal dancer for American Ballet Theatre. Misty was an soloist for years and she performed in the Nutcracker and Firebird and many more. Cindy Bradley trained Misty and saw she was a prodigy. Copeland moved in with Bradley and begin to do live performances, one of her performances was with a charity event for Angela Bassett. Misty performance for Angela Bassett and Debbie Allen opened up more doors for her. Also, Copeland started to get more recognition and break barriers in a career not aimed for African American performers.
